What Is This Tool?
This tool applies a blur using the canvas filter engine. Leave it on the whole image for a soft background, or switch to area mode and drag a rectangle over a face, licence plate or piece of text to hide it. The blur is baked into the exported PNG, so it cannot be reversed by the viewer.
How It Works
Drop an image onto the box or select one.
Set the Blur radius.
For a redaction, tick Blur only a drawn box and drag over the target.
Click Download PNG.
Everything runs locally in your browser — the image you choose is decoded onto an HTML canvas on your own device and is never uploaded to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone un-blur the result?
No. The blur permanently replaces the original pixels in the exported file. Unlike a black box over text in a PDF, there is no hidden layer underneath.
Is a strong blur enough to hide text?
A large radius over small text is generally safe, but a very light blur on large text can sometimes be reconstructed. Use a generous radius, or the Pixelate tool, for anything sensitive.
How do I blur just one spot?
Tick "Blur only a drawn box", then click and drag on the image to mark the rectangle.
Does blur change the image size?
Dimensions stay the same. The file size may change slightly after re-encoding.
Is my image uploaded?
No, the blur is applied locally.
