For the "Image" source — a square image works best

What Is This Tool?

This tool builds favicon PNGs at 16, 32, 48, 180 (Apple touch), 192 and 512 pixels. Feed it a square image, or generate a simple lettermark with your choice of background and text colour. It also outputs the <link> tags to paste into your site’s <head>.

How It Works

1

Choose Image and drop a square picture, or choose Letter and type an initial.

2

Set background, colour and rounded corners if using a letter.

3

Preview every size in the grid.

4

Click Download all sizes and copy the HTML tags.

Everything runs locally in your browser — the image you choose is decoded onto an HTML canvas on your own device and is never uploaded to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get an .ico file?

No — this tool outputs PNGs, which every current browser accepts for favicons via the <link> tag. A multi-resolution .ico requires a packer that is out of scope here; a 32×32 PNG named favicon.png works well.

What size does a favicon really need to be?

At minimum 32×32 for browser tabs and 180×180 for iOS. 192 and 512 are used by Android / PWA manifests. This tool makes all of them.

My image looks cramped at 16px. Why?

Fine detail disappears at tiny sizes. Use a bold, simple, high-contrast mark, or the letter mode, for the smallest icons.

Does it edit my site automatically?

No. It gives you the images and the HTML; you upload the files and paste the tags yourself.

Is my image uploaded?

No, all sizes are rendered locally.
